Robert Scoble Meme

The guys at Megite not too long ago created a personal meme based on Robert Scoble’s OPML file.
I have read recently that Robert subscribes to something like 900 different feeds (at least on his bloglines account, maybe many more in Google reader), and you can expect the quality to be both very high and diverse.

In the same way as Alister Cameron created a custom search for the top SEO blogs, he has now created a Google Custom search based upon Robert Scobles OPML file.

Permalink for Scoble Search:

Scoble Search

This allows you to perform a Google search only of blogs that Robert reads. It is quite likely this will provide some of the highest quality search results regarding technology.
Certainly with the SEO search, the SEO Custom Search was deemed to provide better specific search results than using Google Search directly.

Better Technology Search Results

Google Custom Search tends to give more current search results

Robert will certainly prefer these results

As you can clearly see, http://scobleizer.com is finally the first result.

Taking the mashup one stage further, you can now have Robert Scoble search right on your Google Toolbar, along with live feeds from the Megite meme.

In many ways the megite is a great alternative to Robert’s Google Reader shared feed. It doesn’t reflect what Robert likes, but what the people he reads like and link to.

Toolbar Button - Toprank OPML | S.E.M Search | Megite

Combine an acclaimed list of the greatest websites and blogs in search, with Google Co-op Custom Search, and a dedicated “meme” showing the latest trends and hot stories.

Right on your Google toolbar!

All good sales pages contain a story. This isn’t a sales page, but the story is quite remarkable nonetheless.

Lee Odden is one of the biggest names in the Search Industry, founder of Top Rank Marketing and author of Top Rank SEO blog.

Lee came up with the brilliant idea of publishing a complete list of the blogs and websites he monitors for information specific to the search engine industry. He also published the OPML file from his feed reader.

What is rare, is that he also made a commitment to keep the list updated on a regular basis, ensuring it is both complete and above all relevant.

Some readers saw the list, and decided to put it to work. A number of search engines were quickly introduced based upon Google’s recently introduced custom search engine.

Michael Gray, also known as Graywolf suggested it would be a good idea to create a “river of news” from the OPML file, so Lee contacted Megite.

Most Google Toolbar buttons are fairly useless. They are based around a single site allowing you to search, and more rarely also include the site’s RSS feed.
In most cases after you have installed them, they are rarely used.

This one is a little different

  • Search 300+ top SEO and SEM related sites
  • Discover the hottest news within the industry
  • One button, all you need to know

I chose to use Alistar Cameron’s search - it looked nice and he has stated that he will keep it up to date
